Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct system of primary health care that addresses the root causes of illness, and promotes health and healing using natural therapies. It supports your body's own healing ability using an integrated approach to disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention. I have a special interest in:

  • pregnancy
  • chronic pain
  • I am also a Birth Doula as I believe that the birth process is one to be celebrated, enjoyed and is truly life's greatest miracles

About me: my name is Melissa Chan, BA, ND, Birth Doula. After completing a double Honours Bachelor of Arts in Developmental Psychology and Health Studies at McMaster University I developed a keen interest for the social aspects of public health. I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over 5 years (contract research as well as manufacturing), have traveled and worked abroad in both rural and metropolitan hospitals as far as India to Arizona.

I graduated from The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, where I have completed internships in low income communities and HIV-status populations. I have collected clinical expertise, insight and preceptorship with an eclectic group of professionals including an eye surgeon, general practitioner MD, OB/GYN, Homeopath and Registered Holistic Nutritionist. Together we will discuss your health concerns and create a comprehensive treatment protocol individualized to your short-term and long-term health.
